Gougane Barra Angling Club has secured funding from LAWPRO (Local Authority Waters Programme) to carry out an ecological survey and weed harvesting in Gougane Barra Lake during the coming weeks. This will form part of an overall plan to address the weed problem which has become very prevalent in recent times.  It is the aim of the club to address the weed problem and improve the water quality, biodiversity and environment for the native brown trout.
